About Jin Shin Jyutsu
in Santa Fe with Dr. Uzi Broshi D.N.

What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?

Jin Shin Jyutsu is a gentle Japanese acupressure art, using no needles, no forceful pressure, no drugs. By placing still, light hands on specific points along the body, it restores the natural flow of energy that underlies physical comfort, emotional ease, and holistic wellness.

When energy pathways are blocked, the body registers discomfort, illness, and pain. When they clear, health and peaceful balance can return and the body's innate healing power is enhanced. Jin Shin Jyutsu is a powerful treatment modality that is completely drug-free, noninvasive, and safe at any age. It works well alongside medical care, other therapies, or on its own.

Dr. Uzi Broshi, D.N., has practiced and taught Jin Shin Jyutsu since 1999. He is one of the few certified JSJ practitioners in Santa Fe and the surrounding region, and is also a licensed Naprapath, which means that in a single session, you can receive both structural and energetic care.

Dr. Broshi is the only practitioner in the U.S. who combines Jin Shin Jyutsu with naprapathy, and has pioneered this powerfully effective combined treatment method. Dr. Broshi's doctoral research at Southwest University of Naprapathic Medicine examined how combining this work with Naprapathy affects the body's healing response.

Jin Shin Jyutsu History

The name "Jin Shin Jyutsu" itself maps the philosophy. Jyutsu: Art. Shin: Creator. Jin: Person of Knowing and Compassion. Together, these combine to say "Art of the Creator through Person of Knowing and Compassion." The art of JSJ is rooted in the same knowledge as acupressure and acupuncture.

Japanese master Jiro Murai rediscovered this ancient wisdom in 1912. Facing a terminal illness at age 26, he retreated alone to a family mountain cabin to fast and meditate. Over seven days he drifted in and out of consciousness, his body growing cold. On the seventh day the cold lifted. An intense heat moved through him, and when it subsided, he stood up well.

He devoted the remaining decades of his life to understanding what had happened and developing it into a teachable art. In the 1950s, Mary Burmeister, who had studied with Jiro Murai in Japan, brought Jin Shin Jyutsu to the United States. She taught for more than four decades, and it is through her lineage that this tradition is now offered here in Santa Fe by Dr. Uzi Broshi.

My professors said they’d never seen a grad student so calm and happy during the final writing phase of their dissertation! It was all thanks to my weekly Jin Shin Jyutsu sessions!

What to Expect During Jin Shin Jyutsu Sessions

At the start of each session, Dr. Broshi, D.N., reads the energy pulses at your wrists. There are 26 Safety Energy Locks distributed along the body's energy pathways and each one has a corresponding pulse. Together, they tell him where energy is flowing freely and where it is blocked. What he learns shapes your JSJ treatment.

He then places his hands, still and light, on specific combinations of these points that will clear and balance your vital energy flow. No pressure. No manipulation. Most people describe an experience of effortless stillness and renewal — the kind of deep inner peace that is increasingly rare, and more restorative than sleep.

We want you to leave every session with more than relief. We want you to leave with something valuable and lasting. One of the lasting gifts of Jin Shin Jyutsu is that it does not begin and end in the treatment room. You may receive Jin Shin Jyutsu self-care instructions too, so you can enhance your results between sessions. When you leave your session, you can expect to feel better, and over time regular sessions can bring lasting and profoundly beneficial change.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions About Jin Shin Jyutsu in Santa Fe

  • Jin Shin Jyutsu is a gentle Japanese acupressure art that uses light, still touch to restore the body's natural flow of energy through 26 specific points called Safety Energy Locks. No needles, no forceful pressure. It supports pain relief, nervous system regulation, and holistic wellness, and is safe at any age.

  • Many clients experience meaningful relief from chronic pain, muscular tension, and stress-related conditions through regular sessions. Jin Shin Jyutsu works with the body's energy pathways and energy system to address discomfort at its source, on deeper levels than surface treatment alone. When combined with Naprapathy in sessions by Dr. Broshi, structural and energetic causes of pain are addressed together in a single visit.

  • Both work with the body's energy pathways, but Jin Shin Jyutsu uses no needles, only gentle, still touch. Each session is guided by reading the body's wrist pulses rather than following a fixed protocol, making the treatment uniquely responsive to what your body needs that day.

  • Dr. Broshi begins by reading your wrist pulses to understand which energy pathways are blocked or restricted. He then applies still, light touch to Safety Energy Locks in a sequence designed specifically for you. Your sessions may also include Naprapathic care, addressing connective tissue, alignment, and structural tension alongside the energetic work. You leave with JSJ self-help suggestions tailored to your needs.

  • Some insurance plans cover Naprapathic care. We recommend contacting your insurer to confirm your coverage before your first visit. We accept insurance and you can learn more on our Contact page.
